I use AI as a thought partner in my editing, not a substitute for professional judgment. Every decision about your manuscript is mine.

 

What That Means for Your Project

 

I mainly use AI in three ways.

 

Rephrasing: I use AI to help me brainstorm alternative phrasings when a sentence is hard to parse. The suggestions aren't always right — AI doesn't have the context of your full manuscript that I do — but working through them often helps me understand what you intended, which sharpens my edit beyond what I'd catch on my own.

 

Fact-checking: When a standard internet search doesn't resolve something, I use AI to help track down sources, which I then verify myself.

 

Mechanical check: As a final step after my own full edit, I use AI to help me catch remaining typos and small errors. I review and vet every suggestion myself. Research on editing accuracy shows that even experienced editors catch only 80–93% of errors. This step improves what I return to you; it does not replace my editing.

 

Privacy

 

The AI tools I use are set so your text is never shared with the companies behind them for training. Nothing you send me becomes training data for anyone else's model.

 

Who's Accountable

 

I review and adjudicate everything AI produces. What you get is my editorial judgment. I use AI the way I'd use a brainstorming partner: It's useful for coming up with possibilities I might not think of on my own, but I weigh every suggestion rather than using anything wholesale.
